Family Camp Day

Category(s):

Join Storrowton Village Museum on July 29th from 11:30 - 2:30 pm for its inaugural Family Camp Day! For over 30 years, Storrowton Village has hosted the Early American Summer Days youth camp program. To kick off the 2024 summer program, Storrowton Village invites the whole family to come enjoy an afternoon at summer camp.

Families will have the opportunity to jump back into the 19th century and participate in hoop and sack races. Throughout the afternoon, families will be able to tour the Eastern States Exposition History Museum, watch the live theatrical show The Circus Show, tour the Village’s historic buildings, take part in iconic camp crafts, and meet local children’s book author Melissa Cybulski. Families are encouraged to bring their lunch to picnic on the green.

The MTD group, a cast of high school & college performing arts students, will be presenting The Circus Show, a 45 minute event as part of SVM's Family Day Camp. The music and dance numbers are inspired by the Big E's rich Circus History and feature Songs and Production numbers from the popular Greatest Showman Movie.

Melissa Cybulski is the author of “Appleseeds: A Boy Named Johnny Chapman,” and will read excerpts from her book released in April 2024. Cybulski, from Longmeadow, Massachusetts and member of the Longmeadow Historical Society, researched the childhood of Johnny Chapman in Longmeadow, Chapman is famously known as “Johnny Appleseed.” Cybulski will have copies of her book available during the event.

Family Camp Day is a rain or shine event, and will only be canceled in the event of severe weather.
